Ever since moving to the States I’ve wondered about the pop vs soda controversy. Of course in Raymond we all called it pop. But I had friends at BYU who called it soda and Liz calls it soda, too!
Have a click on zee map and add your two bits to the great controversy.

When I was little we moved from Idaho to N.Y. My mother was so confused when she asked for orange pop and McDonalds gave her orange juice. We were made fun of for using “pop” over there. Now I rarely hear pop anywhere.

I grew up in Texas and no one said soda or pop, though we knew what is was it sounded kinda dorky and everybody just said coke. I still feel funny saying soda or pop, I guess some things are just hard to change. Amazing that someone would do research into something so frivolous as this, but then again I love it and this is one of the coolest things I have seen recently.

Ry grew up mostly in Utah and he calls it soda. I call it pop. I also call rolls “buns”. Everything is a bun! Oh I also call all bags “bags” not sacks. Sack is just not a word I like to throw around.

I only called it pop when I was singing that old Shasta commercial. “I wanna pop! I wanna Shhhhhhhh-asta!”
At home we called it fizz for years. Try using that one at a friend’s house.
