Est. 1999 Version 8
I’m at the Embarcadero waiting for my bus and Tibetan flags are everywhere. People are waving them and wearing them draped around their shoulders. The Olympic torch comes through San Francisco today and local Tibetans are out en masse to protest human rights abuses in their former homeland.
Cops are on every corner.
Many shirts say “sfteamtibet.org” and “Team Tibet”. The shirt that geeted me as I exited the train station said “Olympics in China. Torture in Tibet”.
I sympathize with the Tibetans. I’ve been to their homeland and seen how the Chinese have callously destroyed so much of the sacred landscape there. I wish I could stay downtown today to add my support.
I’m not anti-Olympics or anti-Chinese; I just feel for the Tibetans because I’ve had personal experiences with them and are more aware of their situation.

I agree. in high school I went to eh first ever Tibetan Freedom concert and listened to the Tibetans talk about being tortured and how their country, peace and religion was destroyed. I don’t know what to do accept not buy chinese products, however, that’s only easier in Switzerland. In the U.S. if it’s no made in China then a tiny piece of plastic inside whatever you bought was made in China. I once saw a giant gas gussling SUV with a “free tibet” sticker and thought…really? Don’t they know that the car they bought was manufactured in China. OH BOY! I could go on.
