Est. 1999 Version 8
A week after Mom & I plundered the farmer’s market and ferry building shops in San Francisco, Darin and I returned. I once again purchased far more macaroons from Miette than one person should, but they are soooo durn good.
Here are some shots in no particular order from our wandering that sunny day in January. Yes, all you folks clutching your cocoa and wearing all your sweaters and blankets inside your house, January. Wa-ah-ah-ah!

This is called “Chronos XIV” and you can read about it here.

I love the “Crouching Spider.” Crouching spider hidden cockroach. Crouching butterfly ninja banana slug.

This kid had the right idea. I wanted to swing on it too.

Love “Cupid’s Span.” Too bad we didn’t get to it before the shadow it. It’s enormous though!

JPMorgan Chase Building on Mission.

This is back over by the Justin Herman Plaza.

Now this was curious. Can you see the stream of water coming out of that street-cleaning truck? Yeah, there were all kinds of people on benches just to the right of the photo and the truck went slowly enough for the people to gather their stuff and flee - running! A bunch of bystanders, including us, were standing on the sidewalk watching the tumult. It was pretty funny. I wish I had gotten my camera out in time to capture some of the almost victims.

This is a statue dedicated to mechanics. We have a new friend who is a mechanic. John, do you work on those cars in the buff too? Is that “the way?”

There wasn’t anything nearby to give us any information about this statue, but I do like it.

Love this. I think it was on Mission getting close to the Embarcadero.

Muni has a bunch of cool vintage cars from all over. One day I’ll have to go back just to capture images of them.

This is St. Patrick’s, founded in 1851, right across from Yerba Buena Gardens.

This is not St. Patrick. This is St. Darin. The very cute Patron saint of all those afflicted with loved ones who are constantly trying to feed them gross and smelly unknown foods.

Here’s the view from Yerba Buena.

This is “Shaking Man” at Yerba Buena. When I read about him I didn’t think I had ever seen it before, but as soon as we came upon him I remembered definitely being here before. And being much smaller.

I love the SFMOMA building.

This one is on Market and had an inscription celebrating California’s statehood in 1850. Yeah, I let someone borrow the helicopter, so all these shots are pretty much looking straight up.

I think these creatures were introduced to discourage skaters from tricking out all up and down the Embarcadero walkway. Whatever their purpose, I sure like them. (Sorry skaters!)

The Vaillancourt Fountain of Justin Herman Plaza stands out clear as crystal in my childhood memory. Whenever we went into the city to have lunch with Dad we would walk out to this fountain and run around behind the falling water. Sadly, the water was turned off today, but I love this fountain just the same. Apparently it has been quite controversial.

Oh snap! There goes my car! After them! What is it in me that loves that orange car? Because, seriously, woooooah mama!
