While waiting for my bus this morning a very sleek silver sports car rumbled past. I didn’t recognize the car so I watched it as it drove past to see if I could see the manufacturer’s emblem or a name. There were no markings on the car other than a logo I didn’t quite recognize. The car also caught the eye of the woman standing behind me, who thought it was an Aston-Martin.

She then told me how her son loves fancy sports cars and is always talking about them. She also mentioned her father worked for Ford so they always had a new sensible family car growing up. She, however, always wanted a sports car.

She then shared that she drove a sensible Volvo (still a Ford) during her soccer-mom years, but the desire for a convertable sports car never left her. So, when her kids were grown she went out and bought a three-year-old Porsche Boxster with 18,000 miles at less than half of retail.

She suggested that I do the same.
