On December 1st 2007, Darin and I took BART into the city to the 50th year of the San Francisco International Auto Show at the Moscone Center.

Darin would like a Maserati.

Liz liked this one. We both love old Mercedes.

We sat in and took pictures of all sorts of trucks, Lamborghinis, Porsches, Mini Coopers, Range Rovers, Volkswagens, Jeeps, Spinter vans that we want to convert into a camper, etc., etc. All the models you can see at the dealerships, plus a few more. While that bit wasn’t overwhelmingly exciting it was really nice to sit in several different takes on the same car from different makers and compare them.

There were, thankfully, a few concept cars. This one was surely made with Liz in mind. Yes, the bike racks are built in. Slobber slobber.

This was a commuter car on display. Very cute, but at $200,000 a pop, no thank you!

We ran into an alternative fuel display and asked all about the truck they had rigged to consume used cooking oil.

Then, just as we were about to leave we hit the jackpot, a gallery full of personalized hoopties, tricked out muscle cars and low riders. Heaven for both of us. Darin, who knows all about it. And Liz, who likes the pretty colors.

First, the flames. I love flames.

San Jose rocks, and apparently is home to flying sharks.

I think you might actually have to be a pimp to drive this car.

And I’m so sad that all our photos of this Camaro are out of focus. It was by far Darin’s favorite.
