I’ve been sitting on photos of three events from this summer that were exceptionally fun.

First, in July, Darin and I went camping on Mt. Diablo. What a phenomenal way to watch the sun go down. We stayed at the Juniper campground, the closest to the summit. You can see for miles in all directions.

The coolest part was the little west-facing bluff where everyone in the campground gathered with their chairs and kids and snacks and watched the sun set for well over an hour. I think we want this to become part of what we do. Friday night haul a little picnic or grill, some friends/family and cards or guitar up the mountain and watch the sky turn red.

You can find more photos of the evening on our new gallery (as soon as I figure out how to upload them).

Second, in August, we drove down to Mountain View to see the fabulous Cooks! We went to a phenomenal Vietnamese place, Xanh, and met some really great people. It was so wonderful to see Dave & Brooke again. Muy buena gente.

Finally, but not at all least, Kim drove up and Mom took us both out to Jersey Boys in the city for Mom’s birthday. How generous is that! The music was amazing. Sooooo fun! My mom is a total rock star. But a little warning about the language. Much to our chagrin, the boys from Jersey swore like boys from Jersey. Oops.

Afterwards I got my shoes shined, we walked around Union Square and took pictures by the colorful hearts, rummaged through a fabric store (KIM - what was the name of it?), and then met Dad & Darin for dinner at Colibrí. Dinner was out of this world. I highly recommend the place!

Again, more photos on the gallery.
