This is the Roto Rooter man who cleaned our sewer main line for three hours at US$100 per hour. His name is Shinichi.
These are the roots Shinichi-san removed from our pipes. He graciously informed us “this is not normal”.
We are happy to report we no longer have to shower at the gym.

I’m totally feeling for you! We just had Dan Levorsen come and re-pipe the drain in the bathroom so it wouldn’t back up any more. We’d been brushing our teath in the kitchen. I guess that’s better than showering at the gym though.

This is something I have experienced before. Our sewer came up into the house one winter sunday near Christmas when we had lots of extended-living guests. Not fun. 5 Adults and 4kids going to church all stinky and smelly because the only shower in the house was full of sewer mess. Those darn roots. Only our root problem has yet to be fixed. We need to have someone come x-ray the yard to find the pipe and the roots and where to dig.

Yeah, Shinichi recommended that we send a camera down the pipe to discover where exactly the problem is. The large roots suggest really strongly that there is a significant crack or shift somewhere in the old ceramic pipes. Rats.
